Doula Charlotte

My name is Erika Gebhardt, and I am a licensed birth doula in southwest Charlotte. I attend hospital births and homebirths in the Charlotte area, Gaston County, and Fort Mill, South Carolina. I also look forward to attending births at the Carolina Community Maternity Center!

I attended my first birth as a support person in 2001, during which I felt a calling to birth work. Following that experience, I became a licensed birth doula through ALACE. More recently I have become a certified childbirth educator through Aviva Institute. I am also a licensed apprentice midwife in South Carolina. I work with Leigh Fransen, a licensed South Carolina midwife.

I believe that birth is normal and safe. I believe that women have choices in childbirth, and that awareness and education are powerful tools. I also support the role of medical care in childbirth, when it is necessary. Finally, I have faith in a mother’s intuition.
